For many companies, implementing a climate strategy can seem complicated. All the company's processes and the entire value chain must be considered to create a baseline to work from. Then, a plan must be made for how the company works towards becoming greener. This can be a significant challenge for companies in rapid growth – collecting, organizing, and structuring your data here is problematic.
The Danish MedTech company, Dawn Health, found itself in such a situation. They, therefore, sought help from Climaider, who gives the MedTech company a fair and transparent insight into their CO2 footprint through their advice and Sustainability Management Platform.
Dawn Health contacted Climaider back in 2020 with a desire to help meet an ambitious climate goal: Dawn Health must be carbon neutral. As a relatively new company that aims to save lives, climate focus was a natural and decisive choice.
Firstly, Climaider streamlined data collection to ensure a transparent CO2 calculation, which forms the basis of a good strategy for climate neutrality. It proved to be successful, and based on the collaboration with Climaider, Dawn Health has developed their "Green Code Movement", which includes investing in climate projects for what corresponds to at least 100% of their CO2 footprint since 2019.
Dawn Health knew that they were facing a steep growth curve, so it was essential for them to have a competent partner to help with data management, climate calculations, and CO2 investments. When you, as a growing company, focus on your core business, it can be challenging to keep an overview of the effect different decisions have on the climate.
"As we have grown significantly in a short period, Climaider has helped provide insight into what causes CO2 emissions in the various measured categories," says Sofie Nymark from Dawn Health.
However, to succeed in creating and implementing an ambitious climate strategy, it is crucial not only to have a central overview but also It is also quite essential to have a level of detail to such an extent that you, as a company, have the opportunity to act on it – it simultaneously allows you to make qualified decisions, but also to understand why emissions differ from year to year.
"We moved to a new and larger office, which has meant that we have bought a lot of new furniture. On the platform, we have seen that it weighs a lot in the accounts for 2022. On the other hand, we can see that this category will make up a much smaller part of our total emissions in 2023, as we do not have to buy as much furniture," says Sofie Nymark.
One of the biggest reasons companies fail to act on their climate ambitions is a need for more data insight. Few companies are built to focus on their climate figures – and many, therefore, find it difficult to even get hold of the necessary statistics in an accessible format.
Climaider's Sustainability Management Platform enabled the fusion of Dawn Health's various data sources and brought them together in one place. Climaider has helped them streamline the entire process, saving the MedTech company a lot of manual work. Dawn Health can now access data on CO2 emissions associated with all the different areas of their business and compare their business to the average for their industry. This helps to ensure that the company can continue to grow green.
