For the past 30 years, Mariendal El-Teknik has been rapidly developing. They have gone from being a one-person business to a well-run organization with around 250 employees. The significant development has resulted in Mariendal starting a collaboration with Progreso a few years ago to create a strong foundation for management and growth in the company.

"Back in 2019, we in Mariendal faced a generational change of management following a period of great growth. Therefore, we chose to start a collaboration with Progreso, which has since helped us handle this transition in the best possible way," says the CEO of Mariendal, Johan Ungermann Poulsen, who continues:

"Specifically, we have gone from being a very divided company with different departments to now having clearly defined management layers as well as a common understanding of Mariendal's further development."

Get the strategy out in the organization

Mariendal's collaboration with Progreso started in January 2020, and the focus from the beginning has been to create greater cohesion between all the departments in the company.

"When we started our collaboration with Mariendal at the beginning of 2020, the company consisted of many departments, where each location more or less functioning as its own. Through various workshops and meetings, we have thus jointly created a better foundation for management and growth, which contributes to 'getting the strategy out on the screwdriver', says senior consultant at Progreso Niels Møller Mortensen and adds:

"This has contributed to Mariendal today functioning more as one large organization with a significantly stronger cohesion."

Former collaboration paved the way

For Johan Ungermann Poulsen, the collaboration with Progreso was a great reunion. The CEO has previously worked with Niels Møller Mortensen, and therefore, it was only natural that Progreso help Mariendal El-Teknik set the right course for the company.

"Niels and Progreso have been a really good business partner for us. With their help, we have built a whole new layer of management and gained a completely new awareness of how we work best together across the company," says Johan Ungermann Poulsen, who adds that Niels Møller Mortensen has been a valuable sparring partner in the transition from sales manager to CEO:

"I know Progreso from a previous collaboration, so I already had a clear picture of what Niels and Progreso stand for right from the start. Niels has also been an incredibly valuable sparring partner for me in the transition from sales manager to CEO. He has a strong ability to look at us from the outside and challenge me as a CEO as well as the company as a whole.”

Johan Ungermann Poulsen will, therefore, advise other companies in the same situation to seek competencies and sparring from outside to sharpen the company and expand the existing perspective.
