More and more companies need help having proper control over processing and storing sensitive personal information. As a consequence of this, many companies do not comply with GDPR legislation.
This was also the case in the recruitment company, BackUpVikar. After reviewing their systems and processes, they realized that they needed a solution to identify where their sensitive data was located to ensure that the information was deleted or moved to a secure location.
BackUpVikar started researching the market for solutions that could help them get control of their sensitive personal data. However, after a long search, they were still determining what would work best for their needs.
When they were contacted one day by a salesperson from Safe Online, they could put their doubts behind them. The salesperson introduced them to Safe Online's DataMapper, a tool companies can use to scan their data and identify sensitive personal information.
After taking a closer look at DataMapper's features and comparing them with other solutions, BackUpVikar decided it was the right tool for them to use to handle their challenges with personal data.
With the implementation of Safe Online's DataMapper, BackUpVikar has initiated a process where they scan their data at least once a month. This new process ensures that the recruiting company has an overview of their sensitive data and allows them to become GDPR compliant.
"After each scan, we are presented with a list of the files that contain sensitive personal data. We can then delete or move these files to a secure location to ensure they are protected. We can also see when the files are created and who has access to them, which is a great help in identifying any security risks.” says Mette Davidsen, office assistant at BackUpVikar.
Safe Online's DataMapper has made the work with personal data for BackUpVikar much more manageable. The company is also delighted with several of the tool's features.
"One of the things we like about DataMapper is that there are tabs such as unhandled, resolved, and action required. It makes it easier to get an overview when you can give the scanned a status, and it is then moved from unhandled to resolved," says office assistant in BackUpVikar, Mette Davidsen, and adds:
"We were very satisfied with how DataMapper works. It allows us to comply with GDPR legislation. We were especially pleased with the help we received from our supporter at Safe Online, Caroline, who is very friendly and helpful. DataMapper is a great help for us in terms of complying with GDPR and managing our personal data."
