Couple fulfils dream of running their own business

“We wanted to put our hearts and passion 100 percent into our work life.”

These are the determined words of Charlotte and Henrik Obel, a married couple who, in March this year, decided to combine their professional lives after each working for over 20 years in the retail industry. 

“We have two very different skill sets, but when you combine them, it creates a synergy that’s perfect for running a business,” says Charlotte.

The couple, who live north of Aarhus, now run the business FirmagaverOnline together – a web shop where companies can purchase gifts such as specialty items, home decor, and delicacies. The dream of running a business together had been on their minds for many years, and when the opportunity to take over FirmagaverOnline arose, they seized it.

“We spent the last two years actively searching for the right business that suited us. It had to be something we were truly passionate about,” Henrik explains.

However, their passion for wine and chocolate alone wasn’t enough to drive the venture forward, and Henrik and Charlotte had to explore various financing options to make the acquisition of FirmagaverOnline possible. After hitting a wall with several other banks, the couple finally connected with kompasbank, who saw the potential and helped turn their dream into reality.
