kompasbank joins an exclusive group on the European tech scene, having been selected as one of the Nordic region’s most promising scaleups in TECH5 2025 – a prestigious recognition that places the Danish digital business bank in distinguished international company.

TECH5 is established by The Next Web in collaboration with Financial Times and celebrates the most innovative high-growth companies in Europe each year. The platform has previously paved the way for global success stories such as Revolut, Wise, and Wolt – companies that have reimagined their respective industries and captured significant market share by making everyday life easier for their customers.

In 2025, kompasbank has secured a place in the final round as the only Danish fintech and one of just two Danish companies overall. The selection was based on the bank’s growth, societal impact, and future potential.

“We’ve built a bank from the ground up that’s tailored to the reality of SMEs. It’s about speed, flexibility, and solutions that genuinely strengthen businesses’ competitiveness and their ability to invest in growth and operations,” says Michael Hurup Andersen, CEO and founder of kompasbank.

kompasbank was established to fill the gap in the market that many small and medium-sized enterprises encounter when facing the traditional banking system: long response times, inflexible processes, and a lack of understanding of their everyday reality. With a cloud-based, API-driven platform, the bank delivers tailored financing solutions — faster and at lower cost.

The Champions League for scaleups

Often referred to as the “Champions League for tech startups,” TECH5 annually brings together five standout scaleups from each European region. Finalists are selected based on their traction, impact, and level of innovation.

The other Nordic finalists for TECH5 2025 are:

  • Lassie (Sweden) – digital pet insurance focused on prevention

  • NORNORM (Denmark) – subscription-based office furniture solutions

  • Flower (Sweden) – software for energy storage and management

  • Collective Minds Radiology (Sweden) – collaborative diagnostics platform for healthcare professionals

The final winners will be announced at The Next Web Conference in Amsterdam, 19–20 June 2025.

Growth with purpose

For kompasbank, this recognition is not just about growth and technology — it’s about delivering meaningful improvements for the companies that form the backbone of the European economy.

“Our ambition is to empower the SME segment — not just through better banking experiences, but by providing solutions that generate real value, boost purchasing power, and enable growth. That’s impact that extends beyond business and into society,” says Michael Hurup Andersen.
